Julia Roberts Patterson, age 84, formerly of Statesville, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Hospice of Wentworth in Rockingham County, NC. She was born in Madison, NC on July 27, 1929 to the late John Walter Roberts and Julia Tucker Roberts. Julia was a member of Broad St. United Methodist Church and loved shopping, especially for Christmas, and traveling. She was with the Alexander County Schools as a school teacher for Hiddenite Elementary before her retirement. Along with her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Willard A. Patterson; brothers: Weldon Roberts and Paul Taylor Roberts; sister: Louise Roberts Runley; and niece: Pamela Roberts Sellers. Those left to cherish her memory include great nephews: Jeff Sellers and wife Rachel of Madison, NC and Jim Hawkins and wife Karen of Madison, NC; great great nieces: Hannah Sellers, Jordan Hawkins Harris, and Taylor DeCicco along with a host of nieces and nephews; special friends: Virginia Palmer, Rita Ledford, Hazel Roche and the Tillmans; and Dr. Michael Miller.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will take place after the receiving at 2:00 with the Rev.
