Kailab "Schylar" Payne,
August 13, 1994 — July 18, 2016
Kailab "Schylar" Payne, 21, of Drexel, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 18, 2016. Born August 13, 1994 in Burke County, Schylar was the son of Randy and Kimberly Payne.
Schylar was baptized at Missionary Ridge earlier this year. He loved playing with his son, gardening, trying new foods, listening to music and hanging out with his friends. He enjoyed big family gatherings and spending time with his cousins.
A loving father, family member and friend, Schylar was preceded in death by his great grandparents, James (Bub) & Marzelle Brinkley, Vervena Payne, his grandmother, Darlene Carswell, uncle Robbie Payne and cousin, Christian Churchill.
In addition to his parents Schylar is survived by his son, Solen Kailab Payne; his fiancé, Kirsten Smith, his grandparents, WB (Jr) & Elaine Brinkley Arrant of Drexel, Roger Barrier of Morganton, Teddie Barrier of Granite Falls, Bruce & Janet Payne of Morganton, his great aunt, Melva B. Huffman & husband Norman, his great uncle, James Timothy Brinkley & wife Annette, and his uncle Matt Barrier & wife Brandi and son Dillion Barrier, and uncle Mark Barrier & wife Kristen and their children Madison, Laine, and Lincoln Barrier, parents of his fiancé Tracey & Chad Miller of Morganton, His sister in law, Lauren Smith and brother in law, Kaden Miller. He had many other cousins, who he spent lots of time with and shared many fond memories with Jaime Huffman, Kristy King and her children Kaela Speas & Braxton King, Melissa & Kris Churchill and their children Kylie & Korbin, Brent & Sommer Brinkley and their children Kody, Kara, & Aly Brinkley & her son Conner Brinkley and soon to be niece, Acacia LunaRae Hicks .
The family will receive friends at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, July 23, from 11:00 am -1:00 pm with the funeral service following. Burial will be held at Burke Memorial Park immediately after. Alexander Funeral Service is assisting the family with the arrangements.
