Kathy L. Barnes, age 66, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 at her residence.
She was born to the late Osie and Bessie Barnes on January 27, 1950 in Iredell County. Kathy was retired from Lowes Foods. Kathy enjoyed singing and playing the piano. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Keither and D. V. Barnes, 3, sisters; Evelyn Childers, Ophelia Sherrill, and Jean Cook. Kathy is survived by sons Guy and Kevin Mundy, Brothers: Jack (Scottie) Barnes, OC (Barbara) Barnes and Leon (Pat) Barnes, Sisters: Ann ( Roy) Deal, Betty Icenhour (late Ralph), and Joyce (Jimmy) Watts, and grandson Brandon Mundy, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening July 5, 2016 at East Taylorsville Baptist Church from 3:00 until 4:30 pm with the funeral service following at the church where she was a member. The Rev. Jamie Steele, Rev. Mark Marshall, and Rev. Tanner Mundy will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at the Poplar Springs church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alexander Funeral Service, PO Box 40, Taylorsville, NC 28681 to help with funeral expenses. Please note on Memo line for Kathy Barnes funeral. The family will be notified of the gift.
