Kenneth Edwin Cox Jr., age 60, of Hiddenite, passed away on Wed. Feb. 23, at his residence. Born March 15, 1950 in Fayette County W.Va., to Kenneth Edwin Cox Sr. and Gerry Ann Payne Cox, he grew up in Summerly, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam Era. Kenneth was an employee of Shur Tape in Stony Point. He attended Beulah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother. In addition to his father, he is survived by two sons: Kenneth William Cox & Hannah Kerley, and Kyle Michael Cox and wife, Heather, also with the mother of his children Rochelle Wall Cox, all of Hiddenite. Kenneth will be remembered by three grandchildren: Victoria, Allyson, and Natalie Cox, all of Taylorsville, along with Lexi Johnson, of Hiddenite. He has one brother, Richard “Rick” Cox and wife, Freda of Wilkesboro. He has one niece Tracy Cox Minton and two nephews, Ricky and David Cox, all of Wilkesboro. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service with funeral services at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Hiddenite Cemetery. Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Rick Cox, will officiate.Hiddenite VFW Post 10,000 and Taylorsville Post 5466 will provide military rites at the grave. Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the Cox family.
