Kenneth Eugene Pennell,

Kenneth Eugene Pennell, age 75 passed away unexpectedly at Frye Regional Medical Center on Monday, November 25, 2013.  Born on February 4, 1938 to the late Folk Jefferson Pennell and Maude Lena Pennell.  Kenneth was retired and in his spare time he enjoyed working on motors and being an automobile mechanic.  Kenneth had previously worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for 17 years, as well as, Clayton Marcus for 9 years as a security guard.  He liked watching old western movies and NASCAR  and he also enjoyed fishing. He truly enjoyed spending time with his best buddy -  his little dog; Charlie.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Sallie Mae Benfield Pennell of 52 years, four brothers: Grady, Robert, Perry and Kelly Pennell; four sisters: Estelle Bryant, Cleo Kirby, Verna Reid and Jeanette Burke. Those left to cherish his memory include three sons: Curtis Keith Pennell, Duane Eugene Pennell and wife Lisa, Kenneth Shane Pennell and girlfriend Courtney Adams; one daughter: Sandra Mae Pennell and fiance' Todd Harris; three grand-daughters: Chelsea LeShea Schrader and husband Daren, Brooke Eleisha Wright, and Kendal Paige Harris Pennell, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church.  The service will be conducted Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Mountain Ridge Baptist Church with Pastors Mark Adams and Alan Fox officiating.. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
