Larry Blaine Reid,

Larry Blaine Reid, age 72, of Taylorsville, passed away on Thursday, October 13th, 2011.  He was born in Caldwell County on December 13th, 1938 to parents Hayden Burke and Cecil Pennell Reid. He attended Oxford Memorial Baptist Church.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Greer Reid; brother, Don Reid; 2 grandchildren, Roger Shane Adkins and Atina Adkins; and his great-granddaughter, Skylar Millwood. Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Sue Gilbert & husband Loyd, Jim Adkins & wife Sissy – all of Caldwell County; Colon Reid & wife Anita of Alexander County, Roger Adkins & wife Kathy, Bo Adkins, and Edward Adkins & wife Anita – also all of Caldwell County.  He also leaves behind 4 sisters: Sandra Pearson & husband Coy of Taylorsville, Millie Brookshire of Hickory, Jacque Hollar & husband Jerry of Conover, and Victoria White of Stony Point; 2 brothers: Burton Reid & wife Ruth of Taylorsville, and Dale Reid & wife Flaxen – also of Taylorsville.  He has 14 grandchildren: Jason, Cody, Aaron, Michael, Chris, & Jessica Adkins, Laura McCall, Cole & Nikki Reid, Cassie Reid Millwood, Eric Brookshire, Toby & Keshia Walker, and Jatana Auton.  Visitation will be conducted on Sunday, October 16th, 2011 from 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. at Oxford Memorial Baptist Church.  A Memorial Service will be held at 4 P.M.  Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 10,000 and Taylorsville Post 5466.  Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
