Lee Presnell, age 72, a retired captain with the Taylorsville Police Department, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Iredell County. He was born on Thursday, October 25, 1951, in Iredell County.
During his lifetime, Lee proudly served his country in The United States Army and later upholding justice and protecting his community as a police officer. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as found great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Lee had a passion for playing the guitar and building models in his leisure time. Lee was an avid golfer and Yankees Fan. These hobbies provided him moments of solace and creativity outside the demands of his career.
He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Nancy Presnell; sons Mark Presnell, Brian Lackey (Tina), and Jason Lackey (Jessica); grandchildren Miles (Abbie), Peyton, Ryan, Allyson, Ivori, Rhylin, Brielynn, Kaitlyne, Jaylea, Jaxson, Lucas, Christine, and Jesse; great-granddaughter Oakley; the mother of his children Michele Wike Presnell; sister-in-law Katherine Hoyle (Ernest); brother-in-law Bobby Sain; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents Archie Frank Presnell and Ollie Steele Presnell, son Scottie Lee Presnell, father-in-law and mother-in-law Lee and Virginia Kerley; along with a number of aunts and uncles.
A visitation to honor and remember Lee will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:00 pm to 8:00. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
