Lonnie Walter Watt, age 69, of Taylorsville, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Lonnie was born on October 26, 1946 in Iredell County to the late Walter Sidney and Blanche Larson Watt who survives at her residence in Oregon. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam war and retired from Alexander Railroad Company after 30 years of service. Lonnie was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where he also served as a Sunday School teacher.
Lonnie leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 47 years, Marylynn Clanton Watt, daughter Carla W. Rich & husband Scott, son Ryan Watt & wife Misty, grandchildren: Macey Barnes, Alex Barnes, Ally Rich, Carley Rich, & Hayleigh Watt; sister Darlene Hiekel & husband Rod, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2:30-4:00 pm Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with the funeral following at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Eddie Yount & Rev. Eddie Jolly will be officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wesley Brown, Jason Brown, Eric Bentley, Joel Bentley, Josh Purser, and Edward Tromba. The family requests that in addition to flowers that memorials be made to The Mt. Hebron building fund, 16 Mt. Hebron Church Court, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Military rites will be provided by DAV chapter 84 of Taylorsville and Post 6 of Hudson.
