Mabel Kathrine Kerley Martin, age 86, of Taylorsville took her final flight home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 28, 2018 at her residence. She was born on November 28, 1931 in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Clarence Andrew and Lacy Mae Anderson Kerley. Mabel was privileged to be able to stay at home and take care of her family. She had a special love for them and she was an amazing cook. Mabel was also considered the neighbor “Mom” of her community. She was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church and was known for her love of hats. Mabel was also an avid reader and was also a league bowler. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Bruce Junior Martin; brother James Kerley; and sisters Francis Douglas, Margret Harrington, & Shirley Campbell.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Bradley Martin and Jonathan Martin & wife Danielle both of Taylorsville; five grandchildren Josie, Joshua, Stephen, Benjamin, & Samuel; and one great-grandchild Jordan.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Liledoun Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm with the Rev. James Lockee and Rev. Jonathan Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
