Margaret Jean Gwaltney, age 76 of Hiddenite passed away at her home surrounded by family and loved ones. Born to the late Clifford Howard and Mary Jo Bumgarner Childers in Alexander County.
Margaret was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church but attended Taylor Springs Baptist Church, she enjoyed being able to attend but was disappointed when she was not able to. She will be remembered for the years she worked at Quality Jewelry. Margaret loved her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish the memories of Margaret include her husband of fifty-nine years, Rev. Jerry Lee Gwaltney, of the home, daughter, Janet Fox (Erik) of Taylorsville, two sons, Rev. Clifford Gwaltney (Talitha) of Hiddenite, Darren Gwaltney (Sherry) of Statesville, grandchildren, Brandon Gwaltney (Leslie), Jessica McClain (Brett), Jenna Walters (Cooley) all of Hiddenite, Tyler Fox (Angie) of Taylorsville, Jordan and Landon Gwaltney of Statesville, great grandchildren, Mason McClain, Annaleah McClain, Charlotte Walters, Ezra Gwaltney. Logan, Seth and Cooper Fox and one great-grandchild is expected in February, one brother, Richard Childers (Shirley) of Hiddenite.
Mrs. Gwaltney will Lie-in-State at Linney’s Grove Baptist Church on Monday, July 20, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A graveside service for Margaret will follow at 11:00 am in the Linney’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice & Home Care of Alexander County, Inc. @ 50 Lucy Echerd Ln, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
