Margie Lee Harmon Jones, age 88, of Taylorsville passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born on Saturday, April 16, 1927 to the late Dayton and Beulah Guy Harmon in Avery County. Margie loved to cook for any occasion and always enjoyed tending a vegetable garden. Margie attended Emerald Baptist Church. For most of her life she was a homemaker and then retired from Broyhill Furniture after 10 years.
In addition to her parents Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Wilburn Clarence Jones, a son Tommy Jones, seven brothers; Ray, Glenn, Rufus, Ed, Ralph, Daney, and three sisters Sussie, Merial, and Rea.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son Alvin "Bill" Jones and wife Bernice, a daughter Geraldine Hatton and husband Herman, all of Taylorsville, two sisters Judy Hodges, of Roan Mountain, TN, Faye Stines, of Beech Mountain, NC, five grandchildren; Todd Jones, Tammy Earp, Sandy Foxx, Natasha Pennell, Amanda Moose, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 2:30-4:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will follow in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Jerry Chatham and the Rev. Neal George will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers include; Nathan Earp, Bradley Earp, David Moose, Brandon Foxx, Eric Foxx, and Donnie Pennell. The family requests that in addition to flowers memorials be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2431 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625
