Surviving are one daughter, Scottie Barnes and husband Jack Barnes of Taylorsville; two granddaughters, Lori Alspaugh Marshall and husband Rev. Mark Marshall of Taylorsville and Susan Alspaugh Matthews and husband Brian Matthews of Hiddenite.  Mrs. Rector has six great grandsons: Landon Marshall and wife, Sarah Marshall of Hickory; Graham Marshall and wife, Rachel Marshall of Las Vegas, NV; Trent Marshall of Taylorsville; Tyler Matthews of Wilmington; Cody Matthews and fiancée, Kesley Moulder of Lufkin, TX; and Colten Matthews of Hiddenite.  She also has two great-great grandsons, Rylan and Hudson Marshall of Hickory.  She was also survived by special family members, Rev. Albert and Snookie Childress of Wilkesboro, NC, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Taylorsville with Rev. Josh Sherfey, Rev. Mark Marshall, and Rev. Jamie Steele officiating.  Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery.  The body also will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forgiven Ministry, P.O. Box 117, Taylorsville, NC 28681, which was founded by her daughter and son-in-law, and which Marguerite loved and prayed for daily.
