Marie Faris Stevens Hudson, age 95 of South Boston, Virginia, went to her heavenly home Sunday morning, December 15, 2013. Born September 27, 1918 to the late Charles Henry and Esther Comer Stevens, she had been a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher's assistant from South of Dan Elementary School as well as being a homemaker. Marie enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spencer "Bob" Hudson; six brothers, Alvah, Chester, C.H. Jr., Henry, Keith, and Truett Stevens; and three sisters, Christine Smith, Euvenia Link, and Murlin Gravitt. Those left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Donald Hudson and wife, Martha of Appomattox, VA and Eric Hudson and wife, Margaret of South Boston, VA; two daughters, Joan Reynolds and husband, Mike of Danville, VA and Alison Robinette and husband, Mark of Taylorsville, NC; eight grandchildren, Leon Hudson and wife, Caroline, Bryon Hudson and wife, Julie, Jill Kochan and husband, John, Michael Reynolds, Brandy Collins and husband, Michael, Andrew Reynolds and wife, Amanda, Luke Robinette, and Holly Robinette; eight great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services to held at 2:00 PM on December 17, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Robinette and Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wants to extend a special thank you to those who helped her at home prior to moving to Danville: Pam Chandler, Rachel Matthews, and Alma Elliott; and to the staff at Emeritus-Danviile for their attentiveness over the last several months.
