Mark Christopher Wallace, age 51, of Hickory, passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Friday, July 13, 2012. He was born on July 10, 1961 in Bath, Maine to Truman "Skip" Burton Wallace and the late Laura Ann Warner Wallace. He worked for Home Depot for a number of years and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, scuba diving, family vacations and building boats. He is preceded in death by his mother and two grandchildren; Noah Alan Wallace Matthews and Isaiah Raygan Wallace. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Betty Hodges Wallace of the home; his father, Truman "Skip" Wallace and wife Faye of Texas; three daughters, Ashley Nichols and husband Matt of Bethlehem; Susan Wallace of Texas and Brandy Wallace of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Tim Wallace and wife Cyndie of Asheville, NC and Jeff Wallace of Florida; and three grandchildren, Jared Nichols of Bethlehem, Brayden Kirby and Jeremiah Wallace of North Carolina. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. Service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Little will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
