Martha Grace Johnson

Martha “Grace” Holder Johnson, age 89, of Moravian Falls passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Villages of Wilkes. She was born May 25, 1930 in Wilkes County, daughter of the late James Commodore and Daisy Evelyn Adams Holder. Grace was a homemaker and loved to take care of her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a member at Cub Creek Baptist Church and was involved in the WMU, Bible school, and Sunday School. During her high school years, she was a Candy Striper and after she married her husband of 70 years, Robert Clegg Johnson, they enjoyed camping and going on mission trips together. She is preceded in death by her brothers Earl Adams, Walter Adams, & Clyde Holder; and sisters Eddis Griffin, Virginia Lowe, Shirley Bowman, & Ola Byrd.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Kay J. Steelman & husband Michael, Kathy Suzanne Treadway & husband Gary, and Robin Billings & boyfriend Kevin Walsh all of Moravian Falls; sister Gladys Lane of Moravian Falls; three grandsons; one granddaughter; four great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Cub Creek Baptist Church in Moravian Falls. The funeral service will follow with the Rev. Darrell Poole, Rev. Ronnie Ellis, and Rev. Brian Samsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
