Mary Jane Catherine Brookshire Teague, age 87, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born in Wilkes County on September 26, 1926 to the late B. N. Brookshire and Mary Lou Lowe Brookshire. Mary was a very active member of Antioch Baptist Church. She worked as a homemaker and was also involved in dairy farming and poultry growing with her husband, Roscoe, for Holly Farms and Tyson as well as beef cattle farmers. Mary served on various board and agencies over the years with her husband as well. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Roscoe David Teague; son: Marvin James Teague; daughter: Margaret Jane Teague; two infant twin brothers: Jay Lee Brookshire and B. Cleave Brookshire; brothers: William Fred Brookshire, James Nay Brookshire, and Earl Glen Brookshire; and sisters: Ethel Wallace and Margie Miller. Those left to cherish her memory include daughters: Mary Alice Brown and husband Roger of Taylorsville, and Penny Milstead and husband Randy of Taylorsville; son: Billy Childers of Taylorsville; sister: Dorcas Dyson and husband Lynn of Statesville; sister-in-law: Stella of Hiddenite; grandchildren: Sandie, J.R., Debra, Erin, Jason, Nancy, and Linda; great-grandchildren: Storm, Kellie, Jonathan, Tyler, Jessie, Elizabeth, Luke, Sadie, Colby, Addison, Gracie, and Cooper; step great-grandsons: Austin, John, and Chance; great great grandson: Jeremiah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. The service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Morris and Rev. Dennis Spivey officiating. Burial will be held after the service in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include grandsons and great grandsons. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church at 580 Antioch Church Rd; Taylorsville, NC 28681.
