Mary Carol Smith,

Mary Carol Smith, age 60, of Taylorsville, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She was born on May 14, 1955 to the late Phillip Robert and Marcine Parker Smith in Baltimore County, Maryland. Mary was employed at Tyson Foods as a packer. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by brother Boyd Cameron Parker and niece Melissa Nicole St.Clair.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory ex-husband Ernest Michael Pope, daughter Amy Pope of West Virginia, son Matthew Pope of Taylorsville, sisters; Patricia Snyder of Monroe, Sheila St.Clair & husband Roger of Taylorsville, Phyllis Ruby & husband Elliot of Maryland, four grandchildren; Destiny & Alex Raines of West Virginia, Justin & Katie Pope of Taylorsville, two great grandchild Skylar & Addison Raines of West Virginia, and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation Resident Council in Wilkesboro, NC. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Colin Meredith for all his help & support.
