Mary Alice Wike Childers

Mary Alice Wike Childers, age 91, of Taylorsville passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 22, 1927 in Alexander County to the late Wilson Roby and Sadie Allen Wike. Alice was a lifelong member at East Taylorsville Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and helped in the nursery. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always thinking of her family first, insuring their happiness and wellbeing.She was a member of the DAV Chapter 84 Ladies Auxiliary. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; Lindsay Edward Childers, one sister; Dorothy Burgess, four brothers; John, Paul, Bobby, and Jerry Wike, one sister in law; Pat Wike.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter; Rosalind Childers Starnes and husband David, granddaughter; Natalie Starnes Beal and husband Dustin, grandson; Ashley Starnes and wife Melissia, great grandchildren; Connor and Cameron Beal, and Jacob Starnes.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at East Taylorsville Baptist Church from 1:30 – 2:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Revs. Gary Jennings and Jamie Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Taylorsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers; Ashley Starnes, Dustin Beal, Tim Childers, Donnie Goforth, David Wike, Michael Kerley. Honorary Pallbearers; Connor Beal, Cameron Beal, and Jacob Starnes.

In lieu of flowers all donations may be made to the East Taylorsville Baptist Church building fund at PO Box 906, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
