Mary Jean Horne Ellis

Mary Jean Horne Ellis, age 45, born on Tuesday, January 16, 1979, in South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, in Alexander County. She was a beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her affection for her family and friends was evident in the way she engaged with them, always bringing joy and laughter into their lives. Mary’s love for her daughter, Caroleen Ellis, and her granddaughter, Isa Xiong who she affectionately called “oink, oink”, was boundless. She often described them as her greatest treasures. She is also survived by her father, James Horne. 

Mary Jean's artistic inclinations flourished through her hobbies. She found solace and joy in listening to music, creating art, coloring, and drawing. These interests not only served as a creative outlet but also provided a means of connection with those around her. Friends and family will fondly remember her as a source of inspiration whose passion for art was infectious.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nair Caroleen Prather.

No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be with the family.
