Mary Kathryn Hensley, age 84, was born on Sunday, October 27, 1940, in Madison County, where the roots of her life began to flourish. She passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in the serene surroundings of Hinkle Hospice House in Davidson County, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and devotion to family.
Kathryn's heart thrived in the warmth of her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them, particularly her beloved grandchildren Kati, Tori, and Kody, and great-grandchildren Tessa, Wyatt, and Carter. Her joy was not only found in their laughter but also in the bonds of love that tied them together, creating a tapestry rich in cherished memories.
She is survived by her children: Daniel Richard Angel Jr. (Heidi), Douglas Randolph Angel, David Russell Angel (Cici), and Jennifer Angel Baier (Kevin). Each of her children carried a piece of her spirit, learning the values of compassion and friendship that she instilled in them. Kathryn also shared a particularly close relationship with her sister, Nancy Hensley, who held a special place in her heart throughout her life.
A proud member of New Life Church, Kathryn found peace and community within her faith, nurturing her spiritual side while imparting her kindness to those around her. She embraced her hobbies with enthusiasm; tending to her garden was not just a pastime, but a reflection of her nurturing nature. Her love for playing Bridge showcased her competitive spirit, as well as her enjoyment in connecting with friends and family through games and laughter.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Florence Rice Hensley, whose love and values shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. Their guidance lives on in the hearts of their descendants, a testament to the profound impact of family heritage.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Kathryn’s life at a memorial service on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC, 28681. Pastor Michael Fox will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
