Mary Lee Rowe Saner, age 74 of Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, June 12 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. Born in Alexander County on May 19, 1938 to the late Rev. James Calvin and Vertie (Carlton) Rowe, Mrs. Saner had been very active at St. John's Baptist Church where she was an Assistant Teacher for the Young Adult Class, sang in the Young Adult Choir and the Senior Choir, a Young Adult Missionary Supervisor, as well as the 4th Vice-President of the Alexander County Union. How she lived her life truly spoke of how deeply she loved the Lord and loved people. Her previous jobs included textiles, furniture, child development and a CNA at a nursing home. Besides her parents, those that have preceded Mrs. Saner in death are her husband, Avery Saner. Three sisters: Mary Lou Rowe, Sue Grinton, and Lucy Little. Two brothers: Rev. W.N. Rowe, and James P. Rowe. Those remaining to cherish her memories are two daughters; Myra Saner of the home, and Saundra Adams and husband, Russell, Jr. of Winston-Salem. One son, Martin Gwyn Saner of Winston-Salem. One grand-daughter Anika Saner of the home. Four sisters: Mildred Ferguson, Naomi Rowe, Margaret Rowe all of Taylorsville, and Jeanette Suddith of Wilkesboro. Two brothers: Rev. John Rowe and wife, Priscilla of Taylorsville and Rev. C.E. Rowe and wife, Gladys of Hendersonville. Four sisters-in-law: Shirley L. Rowe, Annie Carlton, Naomi Barnes, and Berlin Saner. Three brothers-in-law: Howard Little, Jerry Saner, and William Saner. She also leaves behind one aunt, Myrtle Rowe, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In honor of Mrs. Saner, the Wake will be held on Friday evening, June 15, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at St. John's Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. The body will Lie-in-State for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Tyra E. Martin and Rev. James Ferguson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
