Mary Lynn Brotherton,

Mary “Lynn” Brotherton, age 80, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, January 29th, 2011 at Catawba Valley Hospice.  She was born in Alexander County on Wednesday, June 11th, 1930 to parents Claude George Deal and Lona Adeline Daniels Deal.  During her lifetime, she was employed with Carolina Glove, Broyhill Furniture, E.R. Carpenter, and with Valley Nursing Center.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and loved to travel.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Moose; her second husband, Charlie Brotherton; an infant brother: Garfield Deal; infant sister: Emma Sue Deal; sister, Marie Harrington; and 3 brothers: George Deal Jr. “Billy,” Bobby Deal, and James Howard Deal “Dave.” Those left to cherish her memory include 2 sisters: Collean Mitchell and Shirley Bumgarner & husband Fred  - all of Taylorsville.  She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces and nephews, as well as some great nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Service on Monday, January 31st from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel where the Rev. Bradley Johnson will officiate. Burial to follow in Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley at: 3975 Robinson Road.
