Mary Margaret Rogers Robinette, age 87, of Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, August 1st, 2010 at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley following several months of declining health. Margaret was born in Alexander County on February 4th, 1923 to parents David Roy and Gussie Chapman Rogers of Taylorsville. She was married on May 13th, 1945 to James B. Robinette. Margaret was a 1944 graduate of Davis Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the profession she loved for 45 years, retiring in 1985 from Alexander County Hospital where she was the Nursing Supervisor and Surgical Nurse and was the hospitals first RN. Before working with Alexander, she worked at Davis Hospital in Statesville and at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, homemaker, sister, aunt, and friend. Margaret was a faithful member of Three Forks Baptist Church. She loved serving and being an active part of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Robinette; infant son, James Rogers Robinette; grandson, Ben Robinette; sister, Rose R. Bolick; brother, Wayne Rogers; 3 sister-in-laws: Cora R. Barnes, Bonnie R. Cavin, and Delsie S. Robinette; and 4 brother-in-laws: Howard Barnes, Elmer Cavin, Cloyd Bolick, and Cletus Fox. Margaret is survived by a son, David E. Robinette and wife Anne of Charlotte; granddaughters: Victoria Robinette, also of Charlotte, & Elizabeth Robinette of Raliegh; 2 sisters: Katherine R. Fox & Joann R. Kerley & husband Raymond - all of Taylorsville; 3 brothers: James K Rogers & wife Joyce of Knoxville, TN, Luke Rogers & wife Estelle, and Roy Rogers - of Taylorsville; a sister-in-law, Clara Y. Rogers of Statesville; a brother-in-law, Howard Robinette of Taylorsville; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 3rd, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Three Forks Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Officiating will be Dr. Carson Moseley and Rev. Marion Powell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
