Mary Ellen Terry Willis

Mary Ellen Terry Willis, age 88, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Catawba County. Born on Wednesday, November 25, 1936, in Cleveland County, she brought joy and warmth to those around her throughout her life.

Mary was cherished for her deep love of family. She truly treasured the moments spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories that will be held dear by her family and friends. Her life was enriched by her roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A devoted member of the Friendly Baptist Church, Mary’s faith was central to her life. She was known for her generous spirit and kind nature, making an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her commitment to her family and church, Mary Ellen found joy in various personal interests. She loved reading, fishing, and cooking, often seen sitting outside on her porch enjoying nature.

Mary is survived by her children: Wanda Parkhurst, Albert Willis (Pat), and Carol Bradshaw (David). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Wendy Pennell, Neil Barnett (Donna), Matthew Willis (Misti), Camille Jones, Kristin Bright (Jacob), and David Ray Bradshaw, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Cecil Terry (Carol), Faye Street, and Regina Hughes (Jimmy), along with several nieces and nephews, also carry her legacy forward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy Terry and Corine Devon Schuster, as well as her siblings Irene Deaton, Dean Terry, and Doris Turner. Mary was also preceded by her children Lumard Willis and Jeannie Barnes, and her grandchildren Jason Parkhurst and Jacqueline Barnes.

There will be a family led Celebration of Life to honor Mary’s life on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Friendly Baptist Church in the Township of Taylorsville, North Carolina at 2:00 pm. Rev. Derick Jonas will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
