Michael "Mike" Ray Carrigan, age 63, of Hiddenite went to his Heavenly home Saturday morning, September 28, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness. Born March 25, 1950 in Iredell County to the late Thomas Ray and Bea Wilson Carrigan. He was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church where he was the Choir Director and a Youth Sunday School Teacher. Mike was self-employed running his lawn care business "Mike's Lawnscape." He was also an avid musician playing the bass guitar as a member of Harry Deal and the Galaxies for a number of years and had also played with The Shannons, Shazbach, Spice of Life and The Tarheel State Quartet. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: John Thomas Carrigan and an infant brother. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Joel Carrigan of Charlotte and Sonya Carrigan of Taylorsville; Godchild: Taylor Pierce of Atlanta, GA; aunt: Sue Punch of Newton; sister-in-law: Billie Carrigan of Hiddenite; niece and special caregiver: Traci Fox and husband Derek of Taylorsville; and nephew: Mark Carrigan and fiancé Whitley Keever of Hiddenite.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm at Pilgrim Baptist Church and the Service will begin at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Gary Jennings and Rev. Chris Benfield officiating. Burial will follow at Taylorsville City Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be JB Clements, Frank Durmire, Blake Millsaps, Cody Fox, Derek Fox, Lynn Gwaltney, Rodney Jolly, and Brian Campbell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bud Jolly, Jim Deal, and Larry Branton.
