Micheal Andrew Maye, age 41 passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Alexander County on December 6, 1973 to Kenneth Andrew and Elizabeth Ann Pennell Maye. Micheal loved to work with his hands; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports in general; he especially loved to watch his son play sports.
In addition to his parents, those remaining to cherish his memory are two sons – Nicholas Maye and Dakota Honeycutt. One sister – Melissa Mays and husband Randy; two nephews – Andrew Sharpe and Caleb Mays; and one niece – Lexie Sharpe. He also leaves behind a grandmother – Mae Pennell; and Grandparents – Dean and Helen Maye, along with two cousins who were like brothers – Stacy and Israel Harrington.
Mr. Maye was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather – Floyd Pennell and two uncles – Dennis and David Pennell.
Visitation for Mr. Maye will be held at Alexander Funeral Service on Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Allen Fox and Rev. Andrew Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Nicholas Maye, Dakota Honeycutt, Stacy Harrington, Israel Harrington, Randy Maye, and Tanner Starnes.
