Millard Ray Stamey, 80 of Statesville passed away on November 4, 2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Rowan County on September 12, 1930 to the late Robert Lee and Jenny Wallace Stamey. He is survived by his wife, Bobby Holland Stamey of the home, one son: Tony Stamey and wife Debbie; two daughters: Shirley Setzer (husband Steve) and Pam Stamey; Three grandchildren: Ladd Stamey and wife Megan; Travis and Amanda Setzer, as well as 5 great-grandchildren. One brother: Harold Stamey and three sisters: Brenda Stamey, Elaine Beaver, and Hilda Allman, all of Kannapolis, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gary Stamey, and Ted Stamey, and one sister Jackie S. Ballard.   Mr. Stamey was a owner operator of a full-service and auto mechanic station for many years.  He was a United States Army veteran and was a member of the Iredell County VFW.  He was also a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Statesville. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010, 12:30 – 2:00 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church in Statesville with the Funeral Service to be held immediately afterwards.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pastor Joey Campbell and Pastor Mark Robinette will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to Gordon’s Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC;  New Prospect Baptist Church c/o Ronald Milsaps, 351 Milsaps Rd, Stateville, NC;  or other charity or donor’s of choice.  Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville is conducting the arrangements for the Stamey family.
