Myra Esther Meadows, age 97, formerly of Taylorsville, passed away in Trinity Oaks Lutheran Home of Salisbury on Saturday, August 27.  Born January 28, 1914 to the late Walter Childers, Sr. and Idella Maude Robinette Childers, she was 97 years of age.  Ms. Meadows was well known for the many years that she was a clerk at Smithey Department Store in Taylorsville.  As a member of St. Paul’s LutheranChurch, she had held many leadership roles over the years.  In addition to her parents, those preceding her in death include her husband, William Floyd Meadows; one brother Walter Childers, Jr. and two sisters Sally Childers, and Hazel Childers. Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters:  Carol Brown and husband Kent of Salisbury, and Rose Marie Desimone and husband Barry of Stafford, VA.  Four grandchildren:  Jonathan Brown and wife Sheelpa, Farrah Hofmann and husband Peter – all of Charlotte, NC; Richard Lewis of Stafford, VA; and Emily Lewis of Alexandria, VA.  Four great-grandchildren:  Colin, Cooper, and Tucker Hofmann, and Dylan Brown – each of Charlotte.  She also leaves behind a number of nieces, nephews, dear family members, and friends. Visitation for Ms. Meadows will be held at Alexander Funeral Service, Wednesday, August 31 from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at St. Paul’s LutheranChurchin Taylorsville.  Pastor Donald Hunter will officiate.  Burial will follow in the TaylorsvilleCityCemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Paul’s LutheranChurch@ PO  Box  535, Taylorsville, 28681.  The family wishes to express their utmost appreciation and thanks for the loving care given to our mother while she was a resident of Trinity Oaks Lutheran Home.  Arrangements entrusted to Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service.
