Nancy Darlene Horton, age 61, born on Friday, April 5, 1963, in Alexander County, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. Her life was woven with love for her family, friends, and the joy she found in everyday moments.
Throughout her career, Darlene was dedicated to her role as a manager in the electronics department at Walmart when she was able to work. In this position, she showcased her remarkable ability to connect with people. Known for her warm smile and her infectious laughter, she had a talent for making those around her feel happy, cherished, and appreciated.
Darlene was proud to be a member of St. John Baptist Church, a place where her faith flourished and where she built lasting connections with fellow parishioners. Beyond her professional endeavors, she found joy in simpler pleasures, such as engaging in crossword puzzles.
The heart of Darlene 's life lay in her deep love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a supportive and loving family who will miss her dearly: her brother, Billy Horton (Brenda), and her sisters, Willis Horton and Wanda Gail Parsons Miller (John Miller). Through them, Darlene's legacy continues with her niece and nephew, Joseph and Abagail Miller, who fondly recall her guidance and love. In addition, Nancy cherished her special friendships, including Geraldine Johnson that was like her second mother, Michelle Lackey—a friend like a sister—and her best friend, Sandra Blevins. Each relationship in her life was a testament to the kindness she radiated and the joy she brought to others including her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Luther and Maudie Parsons Horton, and an infant brother. They welcomed her into their arms once again, but the love and memories she created will remain deeply embedded in the hearts of all who knew her.
