Nancy Lackey Carrigan, age 83, formerly of Taylorsville, passed away in Greensboro on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Born August 29, 1930 in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Gordon Lackey and Hazel Thomas Lackey.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Taylorsville where she had served as president of WMU, as a member of the choir and building committee and as a deacon. She was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. Nancy was retired from her position as an office assistant in Alexander County Administration Office.  She previously worked for Dr. George Givens for 35 years.  Her church, family and friends were her main focus. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James G. "Ross"  Carrigan, Jr.; sisters: Lorene Lackey, Elizabeth Knight and Neal Bevis; and brother: Thomas Lackey.
Survivors include her son: Charles Carrigan and wife Janice of Manassas, VA and son Joe Carrigan and wife Beverly of Greensboro; granddaughter Rebecca C. Finn and husband Jimmy of Alexandria, VA and granddaughter Sara C. Carlton and husband Terry of Raleigh; great grandchildren: Sean and Hanna Finn of Alexandria, VA and Carrigan Moesta of Raleigh; brother: Huron "Buster" Lackey and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 11:00 am - 12:15 pm at First Baptist Church of Taylorsville.  The service will begin at 12:30 pm with the Rev. Tom Carrigan, Rev. Marion Powell and Rev. Dan Redding officiating. Burial will follow at Taylorsville City Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church at PO Box 305; Taylorsville, NC 28681.
