Nancy Hemmings Owens,

Nancy Ruth Hemmings Owens, age 69, of Taylorsville passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center.  Born June 16, 1944 to the late Perry William and Mattie Ruth Nance Hemmings.  She was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship where she was part of the Prayer and Healing Team.  She enjoyed reading, learning and teaching.  She was formally a Cosmetology Instructor at Mitchell Community College and  Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Jonathan Thomas and William Roger Billings.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 15 years, Richard D. Owens of the home; daughter, Susan Elizabeth Lecrone (Mitch) of Pittsboro, NC; step-daughters, Cheryl Ann Phillips , Donna Mae Findley, Laura Sue Charbeneau, Lisa Marie Milan, Theresa Elaine Matchette; grandchildren, Zachary Robert Shaw, Jessica Jean Billings, Steven Lloyd Billings, Amanda Jane Billings; great-grandchildren, Austin Robert Kailing and Justice Ann Marie Shaw; thirteen step-grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren; brother, Perry Lansing Hemmings (Joella); sister, Althea Rae H. Sine (Butch), nieces and nephews, Hannah E. Jackson, Emily J. Hemmings, John Barrett Hemmings, Leigh A Waters, Jennifer R. Lilly and their families.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 13 at 5:00 pm at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Nancy, will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Steve Watson, Pastor Lanny Hemmings, and Rev.
