Nellie Jo Houston Teague, age 88, born on Thursday, November 26, 1936, in Catawba County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. She was a cherished member of her community, remembered for her dedication to both her family and her work.

 Throughout her professional life, Nellie dedicated herself to the furniture industry, where she excelled as an inspector. Her career spanned 31 years, including 11 years with the Shuford Furniture Division of Century and an additional 20 years at DeVille Furniture. Her meticulous nature and strong work ethic ensured that she made a significant impact in her field.

 Nellie was a devoted member of the Antioch Baptist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. She found solace and strength in her community of fellow congregants, sharing her warmth and kindness with those around her.

 Above all, Nellie loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them. She enjoyed camping and golfing, activities that brought her joy and allowed her to create treasured memories with her loved ones. In her earlier years she also enjoyed tack quilting. Her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.

 Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lille Stafford Houston, her husband of 59 years, Grae Dean “Poss” Teague, two sisters, Patsy Pennington, Emma Alice “Sis” Bowman, infant sister, Johnsie Earlene Houston, infant twin siblings, granddaughter, Cheryl Chase, and son-in-law, Timothy Windsor.

 Those left to cherish the memories of Nellie include her sons, Gary Teague (Trish), Allen Teague (Jackie), daughter, Amy Farrens (Robert); Tony Teague, grandchildren, Gary (Amanda), Cody (Jessica), Amber, Ethan (Kelsey), Katelyn (Ryan), great-grandchildren, Timmy (Tiffany), Ciera, Marcus, Kalill, Weston, Easton, Maverick, Tate, Brooks, Jada, Grayson, great-great-grandchildren, Rylee, Liam, Aubree, Toran, Isaiah, Zyana, three brothers, James Eugene Houston, Tommy Houston, and Floyd Houston, sister, Katherine Teague, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 Visitations for Nellie will take place Wednesday January 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:45 pm at Antioch Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday January 22, 2025, at 4:00pm. Rev. Chane Kuzma and Rev. Mark Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan and Rodney Pennell, Sammy Johnson, Caleb Teague, Bradley Teague, and Tommy Gene Houston.

 Nellie Jo Houston Teague will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, her spirit living on through the many lives she touched.
