Nikard Bruce Murphy,

Nikard Bruce Murphy, age 80, of Taylorsville, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Alexander County on June 25, 1934 to the late James William Murphy and Edith Janette White Murphy. Nikard was retired from tree service and he attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was a former boxer and he loved coon hunting. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Deb Murphy and George Murphy; and sister: Kiter Meeks. Those left to cherish his memory include sons: Mike Murphy and Shannon, of Taylorsville, and Nike Murphy of Lawson, NC; sisters: Wayburn Austin of Kannapolis and Texie Nappier of Virginia; along with a number of nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. No formal service is planned.
