Ola Sue Rowe Grinton, age 80, of Taylorsville, NC departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at her residence.  She was born June 1, 1931 to the late Rev. J.C. and Mrs. Vertie C. Rowe.  She attended school in Alexander County and Winston-Salem Teacher’s College.  She was a Teacher Assistant in Alexander County schools for 28 years.  She joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful and dedicated member until her death.  During her active years at St. John, Sue was the Young Adult Sunday School Teacher, President of the Missionary Circle, Young Adult Choir Director, a member of the usher board and a member of the Senior choir.  She also served as secretary of the Yadkin Valley Auxiliary, Secretary of the Alexander County Union, District II Chairperson of the One Day District Conference, member of Yadkin Valley Sunday School Convention Board and Teacher of the Adult Women’s Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester L. Grinton, her parents, two brothers, Rev. W.N. Rowe and James P. Rowe, and two sisters, Mary Lou Rowe and Lucy Rowe Little. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Chester L. “Scooter” Grinton, Jr. and wife Helen; one daughter Bonita S. Grinton; one grandson DeChane Grinton; two granddaughters, Camilia Grinton and Dara Grinton; one great-grandson Jeremiah Whitaker; two brothers Rev. John C. Rowe and wife Priscilla, and Rev. C.E.Rowe and wife Gladys; five sisters, Mary Saner, Mildred Ferguson, Naomi Rowe, Jeanette Suddith, and Margaret Rowe; one brother-in-law Howard L. Little; sister-in-law Shirley L. Rowe, one aunt Myrtle Rowe, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 20 at St. John Baptist Church in Taylorsville at 2:00pm.  The body will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.  Rev. T.E. Martin and Rev. James Ferguson will officiate.  The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
