Omie Mae Troxell Echerd

Omie Mae Troxell Echerd, age 79, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in Alexander County. She was born on Saturday, July 15, 1944, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and grew up in Collinsville, Mississippi. Omie enjoyed running and did several 5 Ks. She loved cooking and feeding everyone. Omie cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Tommy, Doug, and James Troxell; special friend, Betty Cline; special sister-in-law, Martha Echerd.

Those left to cherish the memories of Omie include her husband on 32 years, Donald Echerd; two daughters, Cindy Wilson and Sheila Witherspoon; son, Curtis Wilson (Ashley); brother, Joe Penton; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; special friends, Crystal and Buddy McKinney.

A visitation will be held Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Alexander Funeral Service from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 3, 2023, in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 3:00 pm. Rev. Paul Schronce will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
