Paul Cecil Goble, age 71, a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. He was born on Friday, March 27, 1953, in Catawba County, where he spent his formative years and developed a deep love for his family, the great outdoors, and was of the Christian faith.
Paul dedicated 47 years of his life working as a trimmer for Leathercraft, Inc., and various other furniture companies throughout his upholstery career. His skilled craftsmanship and work ethic earned him the respect of his colleagues and clients alike. Beyond work, he was an avid gardener and yardman, taking immense joy in nurturing his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. An enthusiastic softball player, Paul relished athletic pursuits and loved doing jigsaw puzzles, and camping, creating cherished memories under the stars.
He was known for his kind nature and thoughtful demeanor, earning the affection and admiration of those fortunate enough to know him. His family remembers him fondly as a good man with a precious smile—a "salt of the earth" individual who was a great friend to all.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 33 and a half years, Brenda Carol Moretz Goble; children Christy Goble Jackson (Cecil) of Wellington, FL, Heath Goble and fiancée Jody Walker of Newton, NC, and Keith Goble (Janie) of Hickory, NC. He leaves behind brothers Kenneth "Bud" Goble (Linda), Jimmy Goble, and Teddie Goble (Wanda), and sister Donna Gantt (Wayne). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, including Macie Lail Manning (Hunter) of Charlotte, NC, Brandon Goble (Katie) of Marshville, NC, Sophie Goble of Taylorsville, NC, Dawson Goble of Hickory, NC, Dylan Ball of Hickory, NC, Austyn Kelley of Hickory, NC, Adam Jackson, Cecilia Jackson, Jonah Jackson—all of Charlotte, NC, and Zachary Jackson of Boone, NC, and his beloved friend and companion, Tinker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Franklin Goble and Cennie Louise Martin Goble, infant brother Melvin Goble, sister Linda Duncan, brother-in-law David, and grandparents James Franklin and Bessie Barlett Goble and Robert Glenn and Ellen Goodman Martin.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Service from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Pastor Eric Hauss will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disaster Relief Fund in care of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6175 St. Peters Church Road, Conover, NC 28613.
