Paul Whitley,80

Paul Wayne Whitley,  age 80, passed away in the Villages of Wilkes on November 10, 2014. Paul was a resident of the Hays Community, Wilkes County. Born July 19, 1934, to the late James Revis and Ellen Combs Whitley, he was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.  Paul loved all and was loved by all.

Paul was preceded by a son, Billy Jo Whitley and a step daughter, Rita Fowler.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Whitley of the home. Mr. Whitley has a daughter, Pamela Shumate and husband Christopher of North Wilkesboro and a step daughter, Ann Carpenter and husband Don, of Claremont. Two sons survive: James Whitley and wife Shelby of Roaring River, and Jeff Whitley and wife Cynthia of Hays. and a sister, Judy Warren and husband Clyde of Hays.  Paul had a long time friend, Tony Shumate. He has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and one nephew.

Visitation for family and friends was held on Thursday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. with services at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service in Taylorsville. Rev. Vence Adams, Rev. Clyde Kerley -Chaplain U.S. Air Force, Retired; and Rev. Bobby Langston officiated. Pallbearers were, Mark Shumate, David Warren, David Early, John Cothren, Randy Brown and Tony Shumate. Burial was in Mount Lawn Cemetery, North Wilkesboro. Memorials may be made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 902 West D Street - Suite B, North Wilkesboro, NC. 28659.
