Pauline Brown Wooten Spears, age 86, of Wilkes, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Pauline was born to the late Charlie Burgess and Edna Rebecca Fender Brown on August 24, 1929 in Wilkes County. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Hays, NC.
In addition to her parents Pauline was preceded in death by husband, Roy Wooten, son, Charles Wooten, brothers, sister, and sisters in-laws: Howard (Emma) Brown, Harold (Peggy) Brown, CB Brown, Jr, Lorene (Walter "Shorty") Simpson; and great granddaughter Madison Colbert.
Pauline is survived by five children: Roger (Mary Alice) Brown, David (Kim) Wooten both of Taylorsville, Elogene (Gary) Hodges of Virginia, Barbara (Ronnie) Wagoner of Roaring River, Gerald (Sara) Wooten of Ronda; daughter in-law Marlene Wooten of Asheville, grandchildren: JR Brown, Sandy Peebles, Wendy Hodges, LeAnn Workman, David, Jr., Mark, Loren, & Brandon Wooten, Kristie Church, Laura Colbert, Ronnie Wagoner, Jr., and Alicia Dixon; eighteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson, siblings: Sue (James) Harold of Hays, Velma (Grayson) Eller of Pennsylvania, Bruce (Betty) Brown of North Wilkesboro; sister in-law Sylvia Brown, and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Pauline will lie in state Monday, May 23, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service for any Taylorsville residents who wish to pay their respects. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 beginning at 2:30 pm with the funeral being conducted following at 4:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Hays, NC. The Rev. Donnie Shumate will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery.
