Pearl Land Hatton, age 76, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at her home in Alexander County, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will endure through the memories she created. She was born on Monday, April 12, 1948, in Caldwell County, and was a beloved soul who touched the hearts of all who knew her. She embraced life with a gentle spirit and a kind heart, cherished and loving her family above all else. Pearl attended Dover Baptist Church and was a member of Mt. Ridge Baptist Church.
Pearl had a sweet tooth, particularly relishing vanilla ice cream with sliced peaches or strawberries and strawberry milkshakes from Cookout. Her warm personality shone through in everything she did, from enjoying puzzles to quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, and tackling home improvement projects. In her leisure time, she found solace in watching "Murder She Wrote" and classic westerns.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Land and Minnie Dyson Land, as well as her loving husband, Jimmy Leonard Hatton, her son James Leonard Hatton, her sister Hazel Holsclaw, and brothers Curley, David, and JC Land.
Pearl is survived by her son Timothy "Tim" Hatton (Melissa), brother Ed Land (Etta), grandsons Isaac Hatton, Skyler Hatton, and Riley Hatton; sister-in-law that was more like a sister and best friend Linda Hatton; as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
A visitation to honor Pearl's memory will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Dover Baptist Church from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm followed by a funeral service at Dover Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. A private burial will follow. Rev. Phil Jolly and Rev. Mark Adams will officiate. Michael Nail, Eddy Land, Tommie Ray Hatton, Jerry Bowman, Kelly Ritchie, and Lawrence White will serve as pallbearers.
In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Carolina Caring, especially Nicole Allen.
In the wake of Pearl's passing, may we remember her fondly for the love she shared so freely and the light she brought into the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.
