Peggy Idora Brigman Whitonis

Peggy Idora Brigman Whitonis, age 73, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in Iredell County. She was born to the late Ernest Brigman and Arlene Webb Brigman on Friday, September 9, 1949, in Richmond County. During her working career she worked in the insurance industry. Mrs. Whitonis was a member of Tripplett United Methodist Church in Iredell County. Peggy was an avid reader and seamstress. She loved baking and sharing with her community. Peggy loved her family and grandchildren. She was a very loving and welcoming person.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Smolko; infant brother, Webb Brigman; and mother-in-law, Wanda Bronchik.

Those left to cherish the memories of Peggy include her husband of 41 years, Joe Whitonis; children, Lynn Kincaid (Charles), Mike Brizendine (Marlena); grandchildren, Whitney, Joshua, Matt, Jessica, Nicole, Lacie, Emily; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Vandergriff; brothers, Bruce Brigman (Melinda), James Brigman (Gaye); brother-in-law, Steve Smolko; many nieces and nephews.
