Phillip Dale Pennell, age 64, of Taylorsville, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was born on April 18, 1950 in Iredell County to the late Doc Thurston Pennell and Mary Estelle Childers Pennell. He was employed by Clayton Marcus Furniture Co. and by Alexvale Furniture. Phillip was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church and he loved Nascar. He was also an avid rook player, loved watching westerns, loved to read, especially his Bible.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters: Tonya Kyle and husband, Jack, of Bethlehem, and Jamie Lee Pennell of Seattle, Washington; sisters: Sharon Pennell, and Renda Starnes and husband, Richard, all of Taylorsville; nephew: Casey Starnes and wife Jamie and great niece, Molly, of Taylorsville; niece: Candice Starnes and great nephew, Parker of Taylorsville; grandchildren: Brittney Norton and Bethany Price, both of Taylorsville; and a host of cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm at Three Forks Baptist Church. Service will follow at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Tony Land officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Mike Pennell, Nicky Canter, Casey Starnes, Richard Starnes, Jack Kyle, and Jimmy Crouch.
