Phyllis Ann Davis Elder, age 89, left this world for her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Valley Nursing Center surrounded by her family. Phyllis came into this world on September 2, 1935, in Alexander County to the late Glenn “Pop” and Maude Wilson Davis.
Phyllis dedicated her life to her family, leaving behind a legacy of love. Her life preached her values and faith to all who knew her. Her gift was how she made people feel. She loved to laugh and joke, and made everyone feel like you were the most important person in the world. She was a devoted wife, Mom, grandmother, a fantastic cook who made amazing cakes and banana pudding. She attended East Taylorsville Baptist Church. Her faith was unwavering and a testament in the valleys of life. Phyllis had a successful career in the furniture industry and retired from Alexvale Furniture where she was everyone’s “work Mom”.
Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Larry Elder; her two sons Christopher Mark Elder, Kevin Elder; his fiancée Shawtae; daughters Dianna Lawrence, Renee Harrington, and her husband Chris. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren who were her world: Kaydence Elder, Jeffrey Deal, Gabriel Berry, Jayden and Tydyn Watts, Johnathan Williams, Laurel Lawerence, Will and Grant Harrington. Phyllis is also remembered by her favorite niece Judy Graybeal, and best friends Geraldine Johnson and Kay Sipe.
Phyllis reunites in death with parents Glenn “Pop” and Maude Davis, her sister Clare Davis Reigner, and daughters Donna Lynn Wike and Tiffany Dawn Davis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 pm in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel. Burial to follow at the Taylorsville City Cemetery. Rev. Kevin White and Rev. Neal Walker will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life and memory of Phyllis Elder.
Roger Watson, Jimmy Dean, Steve Mitchell, Deno Bell, Bradley Hendren, Bradley Hendren II and Grayson Hendren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
