Phyllis Jolly Johnson, age 83, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday morning, August 15th, 2011 at Catawba Valley Hospice House. Phyllis was born in Alexander County on September 3rd, 1927 to parents Dock M. and Mamie Fox Jolly. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and canning. Phyllis was also a loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Plato “Pete” Fox, Rayford Fox; and a niece, Gail Fox. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 60 years, Lex Johnson of the home; their daughter, Pat Goble & husband Clyde of Taylorsville; two granddaughters: Kasey Johnson & husband Brandon, also of Taylorsville, Vicki Shipman & husband Roger of Hickory; two great-grandchildren: Laney Johnson of Taylorsville Hunter Bost of Wilmington. She also leaves behind two nephews: Lynn Fox & wife Connie of Taylorsville, Leon Fox & wife Linda of Statesville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 from 2 – 3:00 p.m. atMacedoniaBaptistChurch. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 in the church with Rev. Dan Spears, Rev. Paul Schronce, and Rev. Jamie Steele will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Jonathan Williams, Hal Teague, Devin Elder, Lynn Fox, Leon Fox, Hunter Bost, and Roger Shipman will serve as pallbearers. Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
