Quez Eugene Richey,

Quez Eugene Richey, age 89  of Taylorsville, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center.  Born in Caldwell County to the late Moses Prater and Fannie Estelle (Frye) Richey in March of 1923, he enjoyed gardening and farming, was a furniture worker by trade, and was a charter member and lifelong member of Shiloh Lutheran Church.  Besides his parents, those that have preceded him in death are one son, William Eugene Richey and two siblings; Blanche Richey and Lucy Little.  Those left to cherish his memories are five daughters; Marie Scronce and husband Joe of Vale, Betty Helton and husband Roy of Bethlehem, Ann Sigmon of Bethlehem, Brenda Sigmon and husband  Larry of Lenoir, and Helen Bowman and husband Floyd of Bethlehem.  Two sons; Steve Richey and wife Sandy of Bethlehem, and Gary Richey and wife Mickie (Tootsie) of Lenoir. One brother, Arnold Richey of Bethlehem, and two sisters; Ruth Hall of Bethlehem, and Vestie Surrett of Asheville.  Also remaining are 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Shiloh Lutheran Church as Mr. Richey will only be available for viewing at the church.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25 at Shiloh Lutheran Church at 4:00 pm.  Rev. Harvey Bloom, and Mark Sharpe will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers are Wyatt Bowman, Jason Bowman, Gregory Helton, Casey Richey, Kevin Richey, Logan Richey, Jonathan Sigmon.  Honorary Pallbearers are Tim Scronce, Eugene Scronce, and Trey Metts.  The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Lutheran Church @ 1101 Shiloh Church Rd, Hickory, 28601 or Alexander County Meals on Wheels @ 604 7th St. SW, Taylorsville, 28681   Attn: S.
