R.L. Carrigan, age 88, passed away in Valley Nursing on Saturday, February 7,  2015. Born on March 28, 1926  to the late David Augustus and Lovie Jane Dagenhart Carrigan, in Alexander County, he was retired from Southern Devices, after 26 years. Having started to work at age fourteen, he was employed by Millersville, Irene, Schneider's and Sherrills textile mills before going to Southern Devices. He worked third shift for 56 years.  R.L. was a faithful member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Wren and son Lonnie, as well as all ten of his siblings: Richard, Charlie, Plato, David, Jack, Odell, Callie and Paul Carrigan. Sisters, Rosie Stafford,  and Margie Fox as well as a still born infant.
He is survived by one daughter, Diane Edwards and husband, Heath of Taylorsville. Mr. Carrigan has  special nieces and nephews: Faye Warlick and sweet Betty Jane Hefner and great nieces and nephews: Tina Poarch, Pam Moses and husband David, Jean Kirksey, "Sissy", Debbie Hefner, Gail Bowman, Travis Poarch, and Leroy Carrigan, and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February, 10, 2015, from 2:30 pm until 3:45 pm at East Taylorsville Baptist Church with funeral services at 4:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery.  Rev. Jamie Steele and Rev. Gary W. Jennings will officiate. Memorials may be made to Forgiven Ministry, PO Box 117, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
When not at the church the family will be at the home of a niece, Tina Poarch, 355 Hammer Rd.
