Rachel Shephard McIntyre

Rachel Shephard McIntyre, age 91, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Richmond County Hospice in Rockingham, NC. She was born to the late Dewey and Delphina Shephard on Wednesday, October 26, 1932, in Ellerbe, NC. Rachel worked as a seamstress for over 40 years and retired from Fruit of the Loom. Mrs. McIntyre was a member of Cameronian Presbyterian Church.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey McIntyre; grandson, Michael Prevette; brother, James Shephard; sisters, Mary Lou Nunn and Susie Greene; son-in-law, Alan Snead.

Those left to cherish the memories of Rachel include her daughters, Kathleen Prevette (Bryce) of Statesville, NC and Vivian Snead of Rockingham, NC; grandchildren, Jeff Pierce (Tonya) of Statesville, NC, Chris Snead (Jenny) of Rockingham, NC, Jill Lucas (Chris) of Mt. Gilead, NC; 12 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lacy Shephard and Elbert Shepherd both of Rockingham, NC; sisters, Loretta Poole of Smith, Alabama, Patsy Parker of Waccamaw, NC.

A visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, at Cameronian Presbyterian Church from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral will be Friday, November 17, 2023, at Cameronian Presbyterian Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Northam Cemetery. Rev. Phil Joines will officiate.
