Ralph Eugene “Gene” Lail, age 73, of the Bethlehem Community, passed away unexpectedly, Sat. Feb. 4, 2012, in Frye Regional Medical Center. Born, Mar. 13, 1938, to the late Gaither Lee and Etta Louise Harrison Lail, he was a member Bethlehem {Isaac Creek} Church of God. He was employed by Hancock and Moore and was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed politics and working on cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, a brother Donald L. Lail, a grand-daughter Cameo J. Teague, two great-grandsons, Ty King and Michael Phillips and two Sisters, Linda and Shelia Lail. He is survived by four children: Shelia Lail, Yvonne L. Craig, Bryant E. Lail, and wife, Teresa, Ralph E. Lail, Jr. and wife Cindy, all of Taylorsville. He has a granddaughter, who was like a daughter, Kailea M. Lail. There are thirteen grand-children, and 10 great-grandchildren. He has four brothers, Jimmy Lail and wife Debbie of Taylorsville, Gary Lail and wife Brenda of Hickory, Larry Lail of Taylorsville, and Gwyn Lail and wife Teresa of MO. Four sisters survive, Dorothy Fox and husband George of Claremont, Bessie Holland, of Taylorsville, Doris Sebastian, of Hickory, and Cindy Kelsoe and husband George of Taylorsville. Gene has a sister-in-law, Linda Lail of Hickory. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Mt. Wesley Wesleyan Church, in Hiddenite, with services on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Scott Atkins will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Pall-bearers will be Eddie Phillips Jr., Jimmy Craig, Adam Houston, Rodney Barnes, “Big” Eddie Phillips, Sr., and David Barnes. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation service in Taylorsville.
