Rayford Herman Fox, age 72, of the Bethlehem Community, Taylorsville, passed away, Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Frye Regional Med. Ctr. following a lengthy illness. Born, Sept. 25, 1938, in Alexander County, to the late Clyde C. and Ethel Chapman Fox Auton, he was a career, brick mason. Rayford was a member of Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church, in Bethlehem and was very active in AA in the Hickory, NC area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death, by an infant grandson, William Brent Fox. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Joyce Bowman Fox, of the home, as well as one daughter, Sonja Elaine Fox and husband George of Ashville. Three sons, Brent Herman Fox, Martin Rayford Fox and wife, Amy, and Jonathan Clyde Fox and wife, Tami, all of Taylorsville. Rayford has one sister, Connie Fox Icenhour and husband, Steve, of Taylorsville; a stepbrother, Ralph Auton, and a stepsister, Geneva Mays. Twelve grandchildren are left to remember their grandfather: Hannah Fox Hefner and husband, Jordan, Chelsea Fox, Rachel Fox, Kallie Brown, Savannah Brown, Emily Fox, Ashley Fox, Nicholas Fox, Jacob Fox, Daniel Fox, Quintin Fox, and Benjamin Fox. He has a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, from 5-7:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service in Taylorsville, with funeral services Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. The Reverend Mike Stone will conduct the services and the Reverend Phil Chapman will hold the graveside committal service in the Liledown Community Cemetery in Taylorsville following the church services.
