Rebecca "Becky" Ann Hollar

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Hamby Hollar, age 66, of the Dudley Shoals Community, Lenoir left this world on Monday, February 19, 2018 for her heavenly home to be with her Lord & Savior in Laurens County, SC. She was born on December 20, 1951, the daughter of the late Thomas & Mary Jane Hart Hamby. During her career she worked in the Caldwell County School System as a bus driver & cafeteria worker. She was a member at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church and had a special love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Unlike any other, Becky loved to cook & can. Her chicken and dumplings were everyone’s favorite. She was also a die-hard Carolina fan. Becky will truly be missed but will forever be in our hearts. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Lail and grandson Ryder Guy.

Those left to cherish her memories include her children Carla & Kevin Johnson of Newton; Lori Hollar of Granite Falls, Aaron & Samantha Hollar of Lenoir, Kellie & John Williams of Greenwood, SC, and Felicia & Randy Shirley of Hudson; sixteen grandchildren; sisters Kathy Hall of Lenoir, Nancy Simmons of Granite Falls, Linda Austin of Lenoir, and Janet Hill of Bethlehem; brothers George Hamby of Hudson and David Hamby of Summersville, SC; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon West and Rev. Don Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Hollar, Austin Guy, Zachary Shirley, Devin Hamby, Kirk Austin, Michael Lail, Jr., and Josh Parlier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the building fund at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church at1882 Dudley Shoals Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630
