Renda Gail Burgess

Renda Gail Mays Burgess, age 65, of Taylorsville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 8, 2018 at her residence. She was born on August 13, 1953, the daughter of the late Floyd & Lucy Jenkins Mays. During her career, Renda worked as a secretary at Farm Bureau Insurance in Taylorsville and was of the Baptist faith. She loved to shop and was very creative. Whether with flower arranging or decorating, she had an eye for designing. Renda had a special love for children, they meant the world to her and she was very close to her great nieces and nephews also. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband John Clay Burgess; sister Marie Kerley & brother-in-law Roland; best friend Martha Jenkins; niece Meagan Fitzgerald; and great-niece Karsyn Stafford.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Angela Burgess and son Brandon Burgess both of Taylorsville; nieces Dot & Bill Lackey of Taylorsville, Myra & David Fitzgerald of Ohio, and Joan & Mike Mitzner of Hilton Head; a number of great nieces and nephews; special friend Jill Williams of Taylorsville; and a special “Thank You” to Tonya Millsaps, PA for all your care and support.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. A memorial service to celebrate her life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 6:00 pm with the Rev. Paul Schronce officiating. Inurnment will be with the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 2101 Rexford Rd #165W, Charlotte, NC 28211.
